The Women's Cut
About Us
The Women’s Cut is a Black women-owned independent sports media company founded by Christian Conway and Jené Mitchell.
Built at the intersection of law, culture, and storytelling, The Women’s Cut was created by two founders who recognized a gap in the industry: women of color deserved a space in independent media that not only covered sports—but covered them with depth, context, and intention.
Christian Conway, an attorney and journalist, and Jené Mitchell, an activist, writer, web developer, and producer, bring complementary perspectives that shape the platform’s voice—blending analysis, creativity, and accountability in how stories are told.
The Women’s Cut covers both women’s and men’s sports, going beyond highlights to examine the business, legal, and cultural forces driving the game. From player movement and league expansion to labor dynamics and media narratives, our work centers athletes while unpacking the systems around them.
We are committed to amplifying underrepresented voices, highlighting emerging and overlooked talent, and creating space for stories that don’t always make it into mainstream coverage.
The Women’s Cut is more than a platform—it’s a growing media company and community of contributors and creatives helping redefine how sports stories are told.
Because the game deserves coverage that sees the full picture.
